Using Error Codes to your Advantage ..
Often times when using the computer, errors are not that frequently seen. Error codes are messages or notifications stating that the error code is due to the following reasons:
- hardware is not functioning;
- software files or installation files are corrupted; and
- user inputs are incorrect like for example logging into an account.
One of the worst errors that can happen with the computer is when it encounters BSOD (Blue Screen of Death). The computer displays a blue screen with an error. When this is encountered, write down the error message and the error code. Usually when computer error happens, the computer system executes a physical dump of the memory. To be able to fix the problem, solutions can be found in the Microsoft support website. There are several reasons why BSOD happens. Using error codes at your advantage can help in solving the problem immediately.
Here are some examples of code errors:
Code error name: Code 39
Code error message: Windows cannot load the device for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing.
From the message itself, you can easily identify the cause of the error. The Code 39 error can be caused by a corrupted binary file, driver is missing, device driver referencing encountered a problem and problems with Input/Output process file.
Simple ways to fix the Code 39 error:
- uninstall the driver that is experiencing a problem;
- check if there are changes in the computer like hardware changes; then
- either upgrade or re-install the driver which is experiencing a problem.
To update or uninstall the faulty driver:
- Click Start then select Run and type in sysdm.cpl in the Open box. Click OK.
- When a new window opens, click Hardware tab then Device Manager.
- Look for devices that have question marks on it then double-click on it.
- Then to remove or uninstall the faulty driver, click on the Driver tab then click on the Uninstall button.
- Then on the General tab, click on the button Troubleshoot to open the wizard for troubleshooting. This will assist you in locating changes in the systems hardware drivers and once found click on the Update button.
Code error name: Code 10
Code error message: “This device is either not present, not working properly, or does not have all the drivers installed.
The Code 10 error occurs when the hardware device cannot be located, missing or malfunctioning. This error can also happen when you are trying to use a hardware device and it encountered a problem. To fix error codes at your advantage, refer to the code error message because it always identifies the cause of the problem.
To solve Code 10 error, either update or uninstall the device encountering a problem through the Device Manager.
Code error name: Runtime Error 217
Different reasons why this error happens:
- DLL files are not registered properly;
- The computers regional settings are not properly set;
- Obsolete MS DCOM and Msvcrt.dll file in the computer;
- Computer is infected with malware programs or virus; and
- Registry is modified or corrupted.
To fix the Runtime error 217, you replace outdated files with new ones. Install antivirus software in the computer and use Windows registry cleaner tool to detect changes and problems in the registry.
